There was a bit of chatter about the lights being out Tuesday night, November 21. I checked Spaceweather.com and saw we were "inside a stream of high-speed solar wind". When I saw the hemispheric power top 100, I crawled out of bed to see how the storm might outshine the moon. I wasn't disappointed. The moonlight threw beautiful lighting onto the landscape, while the aurora danced in the sky. One interesting thing about the photo is the curving "dune like" strips on the far right side of the arc. In the timelapse I took, these curvy lines moved in sync from left to right in the sky. I have taken photos of auroral dunes before, just not sure if this is them. It doesn't appear to be airglow, since it seems a part of the auroral display. Taken with a Canon R and Sigma Art 20mm lens. iso 5000, f1.8, 2.8 seconds.
