Details:
I was checking for an Aurora but couldnt see any eveidence but in the east I could see a red glow above a cloud. I knew it wasnt an Aurora as it was in the east of the sky. Not knowing what it was I phtographed it. Then I noticed the Aurora starting so went to a different bedroom window to photograph the Aurora. After hlaf an hour or so I decided to go to our local lighthouse ( walking distance) to take more photographs. It was there that I saw STEVE, again something I didnt know about but again thought this isnt part of the aurora as its in the east.....in the region where I had earlier photographed the red area above the cloud. From the Spceweather imagery I'm fairly confident that red area is a SAR arc.
