Details:
It was very foggy here early this morning, during the initial portion of today's annular solar eclipse, and I thought I might miss the spectacle. The fog cleared about a half an hour into the partial phase, but there were still thin high altitude clouds and a halo was visible around the partially eclipsed sun. I took a few photos with my phone and then went back to photographing with my telescope. Upon examining the cell phone pictures later, I noticed that the lens flare, caused by pointing the phone camera at the sun, was shaped like the partial phase of the solar eclipse. Pretty cool!
