Details:
I happened to wake up this morning around 5am, looked out the window and saw that the skies were mostly clear, so decided I would attempt to view and image comet Nishimura (C/2023 P1).
Using the Skysafari app on my phone I realized that I could not see it from my deck that I normally observe from (my house blocks the view), so went out in the front yard instead. Using the app, I determined where it should be along the eastern horizon and set up my camera on my Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer star tracker. I took several photos with my Canon Ra and Tamron 28-300mm lens. I could not see the comet visually with binoculars or with the naked eye at all.
After processing this morning, I realized that I did indeed capture the comet. It can be seen as a tiny blue green dot above the tree with a barely visible tail pointing up from the horizon. I was shooting almost straight into my neighbors post light, so there are several lens flares in the images. Here are three images - two individual frames, and one stack of eight 8 sec. exposures in Deepsky Stacker.
This comet is tiny compared to comet Neowise in 2020. At least I managed to get a couple images of it before it goes around the Sun. It looks like it will not get very high above the western horizon either, when it moves into the evening sky after next week.
