On Friday 18th August, the two-day old Waxing Crescent Moon was photographed in the vicinity of Mercury (left), Mars (above) and the star 77-Leo nearby in the fading glow of a volcanic sunset. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in manual exposure mode (4 sec, f/4.8, ISO400).
