After being honored to have my Venus In All It's Crescent 🌙 Color Beauty featured on the cover page of Spaceweath on 08-07-23. https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=07&month=08&year=2023 I thought I would put this color, black and white positive, and negative together to show your the different ways to look at it. Please Note CAUTION: Be aware of where the Sun is at all times if you plan on imaging Venus now. I would not want to see anyone go blind trying. Venus now is close to the Sun's surrounding area. With that said: The other day I saw an image of Venus on Spaceweather.com. I read: If you see Venus through a telescope this week, you might not believe your eyes. The Earth-sized planet has narrowed into a marvelously thin crescent. Well, that is all I needed to know. I did not know you could image in the daylight. I got to thinking I would give it a try. This image of Venus was taken in my Manorville, NY observatory in average seeing and turbulent atmospheric on 08-03-23 with the time 5:52 pm EST @ 22° in the West. The colors in this Venus image are the same color I recorded at the time. The hardest part for me was finding Venus with the Sun so close, but far enough not for me to have them both in the same frame. I put on my solar filters and started with the Sun to get a good sharp focus. Then I had the telescope go to Venus. I then removed the finder solar filter first and put my hand behind to insure the Sun was not in its path. I then took off the main telescope filter and all was good. No Sun in its path to the camera 🙂. I used the widest camera sensor I had at first. When I saw Venus, I then centered it on the sensor. This way I can now replace it with a better camera for planet imaging. I did not want to do mono imaging. This time I wanted to image with my ZWOasi224 Color camera with no Barlow on my EdgeHD 14" OTA. I am glad I got this very hard-to-get Venus image. I hope you like it.
