I monitor HF and VLF frequencies to detect solar events. Using USB mode for receiving station CHU created a beat note, from which I use to detect the Doppler frequency shift caused by changes in the Ionosphere. I think I captured the initial shock wave from the CIR arriving. At ~12:10 UTC, it caused the Ionosphere to be pulled away from Earth, creating a negative ~ 1Hz change in CHU's frequency, followed quickly by a positive Doppler shift as the Ionosphere moved closer to Earth. Soon after this event, the K index increased to > 4 indicating the start of the G1 event. Meanwhile, on the VLF band, the signal strength of Station NAA increased markedly, as the solar event increased the reflectivity of the lower layers of the Ionosphere, of which VLF frequencies are sensitive to.
