I recorded packs of coyotes howling with my iPhone during this beautiful display and used them for the soundtrack of a time lapse video with link below. There were 4 minutes during the G4 geomagnetic storm on the evening of April 23, 2023 that left me awestruck. The brightest aurora I have ever witnessed in my decades as an aurora observer occurred between 4:07 and 4:11 UT. I had two cameras on interval timers during most of the evening but only had one at this time as it was getting late. Out of the west, an immensely bright flare up of aurora started and a brilliant pinkish white snake slowly slithered up into the sky. The colours to the naked eye were astounding, vivid yellow, pink, purple and green. Most aurora to me appear like pastel or watercolours from my latitude of 48.58 on the Canada/US border, but this was different. This bright flare up is visible in the first photo in this post. I have included a link to a time lapse video and the 2nd segment of the time lapse is the flare up.
