Details:
A photographer friend and I went to Badlands National Park in hopes of catching another display of northern lights. As the storm intensified, we weren't sure whether we were in South Dakota or Iceland! An auroral corona directly overhead is something I never thought I'd capture living in South Dakota. At one point, the bands even progressed southward and were visible nearly halfway down to the southern horizon.
