Juice launched on April 14, 2023 at 8:14 a.m. ET (12:14 UTC) on an Ariane 5 rocket from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana to study Jupiter and its three largest icy moons.
The Eclipse262728 team on their trip to the path of totality in Exmouth observed the launch accidently as a brilliant comet shape object. The observation was made in the town Cervantes of the Western Australia at about 21:00 when the object appeared above the northwestern horizon as bright as the planet Venus as heading up getting fainter. “The plume is like exhaust, gas coming out during launch of the rocket,” Mohamad Sol explains.
