Details:
Lingering plumes of aerosols from Tonga eruption on Jan. 15, 2022 are still frequently producing splendid evening twilight skies over Rio. Note the rose- and the orange- colored structures on the yellow volcanic twilight arch. The colossal explosion produced a 10% increase in the global content of water vapor in the stratosphere and such excessive hydration may have led to an increase in both the frequency and intensity of some atmospheric optics phenomena worldwide, including crepuscular rays, air glow, noctilucent clouds, among others.
