Details:
This image of a brilliant and colourful aurora borealis was obtained last night (10-11 March 2023) from Urho Kekkonen National Park in Finland. The phenomenon started appearing in the early evening in the form of diffuse auroras that gradually intensified in visibility and experienced several episodes of high activity, such as the one shown in the image. The picture was taken with a modified digital reflex camera to clearly capture the reddish colours and a full-format fisheye lens. The asterism of the Big Dipper is shown at the top.
