Details:
Red auroras here in Utjsoki tonight!! With a slightly elevated solar wind speed, a good density and a consistently negative Bz, the auroras gave us a very, very long show tonight in Utsjoki in Finnish Lapland. The first green bands appeared as soon as the sky became dark enough just after 7 PM, and the show peaked around 10 PM with some bright green shapes that were topped by a magnificent layer of red. The red only appeared as a pale light to the naked eye, but was so vivid on the camera! Even after a decade of chasing the lights, this was maybe only the 3rd time that I captured something like this! So, again, a successful night up here at 70°N!
