Details:
Last night we were all expecting the arrival of a CME of an X2.2 flare from a couple of days earlier. It did arrive, but it was disappointing. Moreover, the Bz component kept pointing north most of the night! However on 2 occasions it briefly dipped south and I was ready. Here at 70°N, we don't need much to spark some very, very bright auroras! I was standing on the frozen Teno river, right on the border between Finland and Norway here in Utsjoki, and was looking south for the first big "explosion" in the sky!
