The Green Comet…to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles Green after a big win today, here’s my best shot of our green interloper visiting us for the first time in 50,000 years. February 1 this comet will make its closest approach to Earth only 26 million miles distant. With a First Quarter Moon high overhead and poor transparency, this object was not visible to the unaided eye at the time of this photo, but an easy binocular target in the Little Dipper. The bright Moon will definitely hinder the beauty of this object, but it’s definitely worth a look if skies are clear in the next week.
