Details:
Sorted myself out a bit with comet imaging last night. Caught it a couple of hours earlier when it was lower in the sky. This allows imaging though the glass of the door without opening the door, greatly reducing air turbulence at the cost of some loss of light. There is much light pollution here in the direction of the rising comet, so a bit of loss of light is not that significant. The geometry of the scope and the door also allows deployment of a focal reducer with the camera, widening the field of view, and making the system “faster”. The improved basic image also allows retention of colour during the processing revealing some of the green colour.
