Details:
Cracking display of the northern lights last night, the best of the year so far, with some fine striations and bright rays for a time. At first I thought I was going to miss the best of it as clouds spread in from the southwest around 2015 UTC, but these moved away to the north allowing a good view of the most active phase just before magnetic midnight (around 2150 UTC). The lower portion of the display was visible until the upper cloud reduced the view to a thin strip on the northern horizon around midnight, and I managed to get some video footage of some of the fast moving bands. Photos taken at 2151 and 2153 UTC. Time lapse : https://youtu.be/LWKcalkEgEU
