Details:
After a period of relative calm the geomagnetic silence was abruptly broken in the late hours of October 2nd with the arrival of a southerly oriented solar wind stream originating from coronal holes on the Sun. My magnetometer kicked into action, recording the entire event as beautiful aurora danced in the north and south beyond visual reach from my home in the UK.
