Details:
Close to Sunset Serengeti, Tanzania. I have another question as I am researching first Ozone Antartica NASA U2 flight in 87. The pilot (I known decades) encountered a Nacreous cloud at bit over 65000 feet at about 75S early morning. It was a stratospheric snow storm laced with high concentration of nitric and possible sulfuric acid directly responsible for Ozone hole Dr Susan Solomon told me recently. pH not determined at this time. Half an hour into cloud U2 had seals failure, highly unusual so far into flight. Aircraft Seals latex type rubber not resistant to strong acids. He was only U2 pilot ever to have flown through a Nacreous cloud. As meteorologist I assume I like to get your take as to seal failure from Antarctic polar night cloud with CFC induced chemistry. Currently undocumented failure mechanism
