With apologies to U2, I couldn't resist the title! Six months after the eruption of the Hunga Tonga volcano, the resulting stratospheric aerosols are still lingering in southern skies and producing these incredible twilight colours. The fourth photo shows the bright reflected dusking in the eastern sky.
I see that Noeleen Lowndes on the Gold Coast and Peter Lowenstein in Mutare, Zimbabwe, have also observed this phenomenon.
These photos were taken with my iPhone 8. I have also taken some photos of the twilight with my Nikon digital camera but, as I am a novice photographer, they are not that great. I will post a few of the better ones on Spaceweather.com shortly.
