Recent picture of 'comet’ Mercury. Monochromatic CCD image of its tail taken through a 135mm lens and a 598nm filter tuned to the orange-yellow glow of sodium. You can even see some very small features in the tail. And yeah, the brightness was significantly increasing because of the Doppler shift. See also one of the unprocessed single frames.
