Details:
Clear dawn skies with strong volcanic sunrises on 30th April and 1st May provided spectacular views of the close conjunction between Venus and Jupiter. These were photographed in alignment with Mars and Saturn above early volcanic sunrise glow and then alone to produce several beautiful composite images in which they are viewed either above a flowering security light illuminated ‘Fifth Dimension’ Hibiscus plant in my back garden and/or to a backdrop of brightening volcanic sunrise glow. The flower composites consist of merged near and far focus photographs taken in quick succession so that both foreground and planets are sharp! The results for the 30th April and 01st May have been placed either side-by-side or one above the other to produce mosaics which show the relative shift in positions of Venus and Mercury on the two days of closest conjunction. The final x20 speed timelapse shows the pair (Venus below and Jupiter above) rising in bright volcanic sunrise glow on the second day. Cameras: Tripod-mounted and hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40’s in night scenery and sunset modes.
