this is an excerpt from a time-lapse film I made today. It shows the sunspot AR2995 greatly magnified. You can see "waves" moving outwards from the centre and strange phenomena inside the umbra. To me it looks like "lightning". I can probably rule out technical artefacts, because some of the flashes can be seen on 3 images in a row.
I have never heard of such a thing. I would like to know more about it.
The data: 280 images at 20s taken with 152/1200 FH refractor Quark Chromo and ASI178MM.
