Details:
The normal Westerlies are absent now in Europe, and instead Easterly winds from the continent are blowing, carrying lots of pollen. This morning here in Delft, Netherlands, a fine two fold and colourful elliptical pollen corona was visible, tightly around the Sun. Most likely, the currently blooming birch trees are causing this small optical gem. The silhouette of the statue in one of the two pictures belongs to Hugo Grotius, the founding father of international law who was born in Delft in April 1583.
