Details:
The photos, taken with a Nikon CoolPix P900 camera at 18:32-19:02 (UTC-3h), show the first impacts of volcanic aerosols, probably from the stratospheric eruption in Tonga, on Saquarema sunsets. The city is situated at coord.: 23S, 43W - some 80 km East of downtown Rio de Janeiro and 132 degrees in longitude East of Tonga - roughly at the same latitude. Signs of volcanic effects included: an odd display of Altocumulus undulatus clouds some 5 km high, that exhibited a bright glow visible for up to 50 minutes after sunset; a bright yellow arch; a thin dark blanket of translucent clouds; and a fine display of amazing crepuscular rays. The appearance of the plume hints that its circumnavigation will take about a month to complete.
