Details:
It has been a good week for aurora chasers. Significant geomagnetic unrest has been recorded on magnetometers such as my own here in the UK, starting on Jan 14th with a G2 geomagnetic storm. This was followed by a G1 storm on the 15th, unrest on the 16th and finally a G1 storm in the last minutes of the 17th that lasted for about an hour into the 18th. This storm resulted from a glancing blow of the CME reported on Spaceweather.com. It is great to see such an uptick in activity after a relatively calm period.
