The sunspot contained in the active region AR2924 in the southern hemisphere of the sun, has quadrupled in size in the last 48 hours and will soon be looking directly at the Earth with the danger of solar flares that will impact us directly.
In this photo captured on the morning of this Friday, January 7, the sunspot AR2925 can also be seen.
Two new sunspots are expected to appear on the east limb of the sun this weekend, according to observations from NASA's STEREO-A spacecraft.
To take this picture I used a Coronado Solarmax II 90mm aperture solar telescope and a ZWO 183MM camera.
