This gif animation shows the tail near the coma of Comet Leonard as debris erupts of the comet. The gif field of view is only about 1/3 x 1/3 degree, the tail extends well outside of this gif animation. The gif covers 27 minutes in the life of the comet and is composed of 25 images each 60 seconds long taken with an 11" SCT and STF-8300M CCD camera. The other images were used to calculate the magnitude of the comet which is magnitude 7.2 and 57 million miles from Earth in these images. These images were taken with a 25mm f/3.5 scope and a ST-402ME CCD camera through a green filter. The field of view of these images is 2.6 x 2.4 degrees.
