The solar wind has arrived. Last night between midnight and 1 AM local time, we witnessed some exceptional auroras up here in the far north of Finnish Lapland. The weather forecast was incredibly inaccurate and we had to drive to some of the most remote area tucked near the Norwegian border where the sky was finally all clear. The auroras were overhead most of the time, even reaching to the southern half of the sky. They were changing very fast, and we kept having to reposition our cameras on either side of the road to shoot the action! Why side of the road? Because with all this "chasing", I just had to stop at the first decent and safe place, no time to scout nice locations far out in the middle of nowhere. After a while, the show died off and we started driving back home... Only to have to stop again 10 minutes later to some more activity and very soon after a brilliant pink nitrogen fringe! The pink was very visible to the naked eye. Another very successful night in northern Finnish Lapland!
