Details:
Obviously big solar wind as the CME hit last night I had clouds around me but it looked like the skies were going to clear later (which they did) but I fell asleep. I woke up just after 5am and I could see the aurora through my bedroom window. So quick coffee and headed down to the bridge over the Abisko canyon which is only 5 mins from where I am at the mo (lucky me).
Not so far from sunrise so it was getting light which made things interesting. I was watching purple auroras getting washed out by the nautical sunrise. Only ever seen that once before during the Saint Patrick Day geomagnetic storm of 2015.
You can see in this image it's much brighter to the right of the image which is the direction the sun will rise shortly!
Crazy times I wonder what it would have been like if I hadn't slept through it ;-)
