Details:
In summer 2021 we inherited a vintage Celestron C5. Made in the mid 1980s, and after a period of use for recreational observing, the instrument had spent nearly two decades in various cellars and storage places. When we got it, it was unclear at first if it was any good at all. After some thorough cleaning, tuning and a good deal of TLC it turned out to be one of the C5 with excellent optical quality. It had its second first light on September 3, 2021, when we made this shot of Jupiter and its moons Io and Europa.
