Details:
Last night was not forecast to be a particularly strong night for the northern lights, and in fact we only hit Kp-2. But local conditions can and do vary sometimes, and over Iceland the local magnetic observatory recorded K-4 - much more suitable for a good show! I shot this image of the aurora over my house in southern Iceland at about 11 pm. This is a 2.5 second exposure taken at ISO 2000, with an aperture of f/2.0.
