Today's Sun in H-alpha, Ca-K, and continuum. So are there five, six, or seven active regions? I missed the AR on the SW limb during my visual count and thought AR 2863 and AR 2864 were the same active region, so I came up with five regions. Review of the images led me to believe that there were six active regions. However, solar region summary shows AR 2863 and 2864 as separate regions, though they are in the the same magnetic area based on review of magnetograms from SDO. Makes little sense to me. In the meantime the largest AR in the northern hemisphere still has no official AR number, though it has been present for two days now. Some things I just don't understand.
