Details:
The 18th August close conjunction of Mercury and Mars was observed setting behind Christmas Pass from late sunset twilight to last light. The lead x100 speed time-lapse animation was prepared from ninety-eight 4-second time exposures taken between 6.08 and 6.33 pm. The event was recorded despite poor seeing conditions due to low level smoke haze from dry season burning. Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS 40 in night scenery mode.
