Details:
The Spaceweather.com predicted G1 geomagnetic storm arrived in the late hours of March 13th UTC and had a significant impact on magnetometers such as my own here in the UK. The cause was an uptick in the solar wind speed to over 550 km/s coupled with an oscillating positive/negative interplanetary magnetic field (Bz). The storm was preceded by geomagnetic unrest, also resulting from negative Bz, but with significantly slower wind speeds of around 350 km/s.
