Details:
My handwritten description of the event is in one of the photos; the notes suggest that the main display started around 2145 GMT.
All those years ago I was using an Olympus OM10, with a kit lens (50 mm, f/1.8) and a Hanimex 28 mm, f/2.8. I took a load of photos as the storm was dying down, although it was still lighting up the skies to the south of me! The astro group that I had recently joined started a phone alert system a couple of weeks later...
The photos are just pics of pics from an old album. I still have the negatives and will try and convert them to digitised positive images.
P.S. Your website won't let me put a date of 1989, so I picked today instead.
