Details:
When boosting the 'red' channel on the image, I noticed a pattern to the right, and concluded that I had indeed captured distant auroras while taking images on the tip of the thumb of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, just behind Point Aux Barques Lighthouse.
Details: Canon 6D, Tamron 17-35 f/2.8-f/4.0 lens at f/2.8 and 17mm, 20secs, ISO 6400, processed in Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC.
