My fingers and face are frozen but I’m so happy to see the Aurora again. This evening I looked out a north facing window as I tend to do every clear night and saw a bright glow in the sky. The temperature was -17C with wind gusts up to 40 kph resulting in a wind chill of -25C. I figured the bright gibbous moon would completely wash out any possibility of Aurora but I bundled up, packed up my gear and headed out. I was immediately welcomed by the brisk biting wind. The Aurora brightened and was easily visible despite the bright moon. It was easy to walk around without a flashlight as the moon was very bright reflecting off the snow. I was really impressed by how bright the Aurora was despite the moon. After I got back in, I saw that a G2 storm was in effect which confirmed what I saw. Photos taken with a Canon 6D DSLR, Sigma 20mm ART lens, ISO 3200, f/1.6 with an exposure of ½ second.
