Details:
On my way in to work in the morning I was driving east, enjoying the colors of the clouds as the sun was preparing to rise. Then I saw a pillar of light coming up right where the sun was preparing to rise. It was 6:54am. I looked for the sun but it wasn't peeking through anywhere to cause a beam to shoot up like this. I immediately grabbed my phone and took a few photos, hoping my camera would be good enough to capture the subtle beam of light. To my delight the photos turned out pretty good, you can distinctly see the vertical pillar of light where the sun is preparing to rise. I thought this was a very interesting and unique phenomena. But I'm also unaware of what would cause it and I'm curious if you have an answer. Thanks!
