Details:
After imaging Vesta the other night, it seemed that asteroid spotting might be an entertaining sport from the window-sill. So I first imaged Vesta again to see where it had got to. Then superimposed it on the image from 2 nights ago after having matched the star fields. A quick look at various websites revealed several asteroids of reasonable brightness (mag<10-ish) in the same area. So I decided to try for Melpomene (OK- I had never heard of it either!) at magnitude 9.9. Not obvious! - unlike bright Vesta. Still, experience with Vesta indicated that a couple of hours would be enough to reveal anything by its movement. So the animation shows this with a superposition of the star field with a 2 hour (or so) gap. There it is! Will look for more in future!
