Details:
On Thursday evening, against all odds, the Full Moon was seen to rise behind cloud above a hill in Cecil Kop Nature Reserve. The afternoon had been overcast with thunderstorms and heavy rain so it was assumed that there was very little chance of seeing the Moon. However at 7 pm a faint glow appeared near the moonrise point followed ten minutes later by the Full Moon with bright halo becoming visible through a gap between the horizon and thin veils of moving cloud. This surreal display, captured in the accompanying time-lapse animation and still images, lasted only a few minutes before the gap closed and the Moon disappeared. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS40 in night scenery and sunset modes.
