Details:
The area around Monoceros/Orion/Canis Major/Gemini is replete with open clusters - just take a look at Stellarium! They make good targets when the Moon is out, washing out the fainter stuff. Here are a couple more last night. NGC 2343 is known as the "Doublemint Cluster" for some reason that escapes me. It is also No. 33 in Stephen James O'Meara's book "The Secret Deep" , one of his books in his "Deep Sky Companions" series
