Details:
Longest days and worst weather of the year, 'tisn't the season for astro stuff. So we had to use our opportunity to see the Great Conjunction when it came, around 3.00pm local time in the form of a clear patch with the Sun high in the sky. C14 at Beverly-Begg Observatory, ASI174, IR pass filter. Taken at around 02:00 UTC on 22 December, about 7.5h after minimum separation. Sky Safari states around 6.5 arcminutes of separation at the time the images were obtained. Possibly the closest obtained from here of such an event yet. Unprocessed frame attached for illustration of visual appearance. Saturn took some effort to see but was there. Later that night, we were treated to some superb night time views of the event through a small refractor, high above the local cloud that had engulfed the whole city. A day to remember.
