Details:
Between 11.40 am and midday on Saturday 19th, thin high cloud containing tiny ice crystals produced a circular halo around the Sun. As this display was immediately overhead it would have been missed by anyone who did not happen to glance vertically upwards. As the midday Sun was extremely bright great care had to be taken while taking the accompanying photographs not to look directly into it and to use the electronic viewfinder on the camera or a tree as a sunshield. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS40 in scenery mode.
