Details:
This gif and image show Comet 156P/Russell-LINEAR at magnitude 11.8 as it was 57 million miles from Earth, it has a fan tail 0.039 degrees long to the east of the comet nucleus. 156P was at perihelion in its 6.44 year orbit this past November 17 when it brightened to magnitude 10. The gif is a collection of 9 images each 60 seconds long taken from 0122-0142UT with an 11" SCT f/6.4 and an STF-8300M CCD Camera, the field of view is 0.25x0.25 degrees. As always, to get the best resolution image of the gifs and images select the larger image which will give the correct image format.
