Details:
On Saturday evening, with almost no warning, an unexpected narrow gap (letterbox) developed beneath an almost continuous layer of cloud above the horizon to allow the setting Sun with both Sunspots AR2785 and 2786 to make a brief appearance before disappearing behind the summit of a hill. The chances of the Sun appearing and displaying both current large sunspots though such a narrow gap in almost continuous cloud cover almost exactly above the summit of a hill are so incredibly slim that I am amazed not only that the event took place but also that I was able to grab a camera and capture 60 hand-held still images to produce a complete time-lapse animation of it. The length of time from first appearance of the Sun to last glow after setting was only four minutes. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset mode with up to x40 zoom magnification and electronic viewfinder.
