Details:
That’s not a comet but the tail of our inner planet Mercury ”seen“ from my backyard. This stacked image was exposed through a custom-made sodium filter. Lens: 135mm f/2. The trees are from the first exposure and were blended to the final stack. I had imagined the tail of Mercury to be narrower. Perhaps the current solar activity has a stronger influence on the shape of the sodium tail? However a very special imaging and processing challenge.
