Details:
Cloudless skies at sunset during the four days from 23rd-26th October allowed the Sun to be observed setting at two locations to the north (upper images) and two to the south (lower images) of a repeater station mast on the summit of a hill near Feruka, Mutare. On the first three days there was very little haze so the sun was bright yellow and orange as it started to set behind the hill but on the fourth day it was coloured deep orange-red by a layer of smoke haze close to the horizon. The four views also demonstrate nicely by how much the Sun is advancing along the local horizon each day. The amount of movement depends on two things, the time of year and the latitude from which it is observed. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset and manual exposure modes.
