Details:
The beautiful aurora showcased on Spaceweather.com are powered by the solar wind. In addition to the visual impact, the wind stream also has an effect on Earth's magnetic field as detected on magnetometers such as mine in the UK. Here are my geomagnetic data from over the last three days which show how the local field has responded to the latest outbursts of solar wind.
