Smoke from the Bobcat Fire near Mt. Wilson in California is seen here obscuring the Milky Way over central Missouri, more than 1,500 miles away. The GOES-EAST photos clearly showed the plume stretching nearly from coast-to-coast on the afternoon of September 13th.
